What does sustainable development means?

The one created in 1987 through the Bruntland Study of the World Commission on Environment and Development. According to this definition, sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present withoutcompromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.

Cool quote

Talk is cheap because the supply greatly exceeds the demand!

Sign of best audience

The best audience is intelligent, well-educated … and a little bit drunk.

- Alben Barkley, who served as Harry Truman's vice president.

Quotes for success

This is excerpt from speech of J. Steven Whisler, Chairman and CEO, Phelps Dodge Corp. in American Mining Hall of Fame Banquet, Tucson, Arizona on December 4, 2004

I tried to come up with a few eternal truths and rules for success to share with you tonight. The best I could do was five, and here they are:

• First, stay humble in the mining business. As the author Otis Young noted in his book Western Mining, “For every fortune made in mining, another fortune was spent ultimately to provide palatiallodgings for gophers.”

• Second, keep in touch with the latest in high tech. For example, even in the midst of confusion and frustration, always remember that hardware is the part of the computer that can be kicked or thrown.

• Third, don’t blindly follow conventional wisdom. Remember that Noah was an amateur … and the Titanic was designed and built by professionals.

• Fourth, never assume that everyone already understands the problem. As science and history have long since proved, the two most abundant elements in the universe are hydrogen and stupidity.

• Finally, always put safety first. As Mark Twain once said, “It is better to be careful 100 times than to be killed once.”

Now here is comment from Dwight D. Eisenhower:

“We succeed, only as we identify in life, or in war, or in anything else, a single overriding objective, and make all other considerations bend to that one objective.”

Reality Joke

Before Dick Cheney became the vice president, in the 1980s he was a five-term congressman from Wyoming running for re-election. Well-known in the state, Cheney was out campaigning when he noticed a weather-beaten old cowboy leaning against a tree with his Stetson pulled down over his eyes. So he went over, grabbed him by the hand and said, “Hi, I’m Dick Cheney, I’m running for Congress, and I’d like your vote.”

To which the old cowpoke replied, “You got it. That stupid fool we got in there now is no damn good.”

Phrase

Knowledge is Power, Knowledge is money

That which has been is that which will be, And that which has been done is that which will be done.
Solomon

The sage biblical and appropriate advice of Ecclesiastes :
WISDOM EXCELLETH FOLLY AS FAR AS LIGHT EXCELLETH DARKNESS.

but Ecclesiastes also cautioned

I RETURNED, AND SAW UNDER THE SUN, THAT THE RACE IS NOT TO THE SWIFT, NOR THE BATTLE TO THE STRONG, NEITHER YET BREAD TO THE WISE, NOR YET RICHES TO MEN OFUNDERSTANDING, NOR YET FAVOR TO MEN OF SKILL; BUT TIME CHANCE HAPPENETH TO THEM ALL.

Club Fare - Spring 2006

Today was club fare at East gym. This is the very first time I attended club fare. Well it was kind of fun and learning experience. INSA (Indian Student Association) for the very first time has put its stall in this Fair. I reached there early in morning with rajesh and set up the stall. Because of this fare i missed one of my class.

Well it was kind of good experience to know about other clubs and their activities. I signed for all of them. Best wishes to all clubs.
