First ever drive

On June 28th 2006, I have travelled for the very first time driving myself. Well this is kind of nice thing to share with you all. On June 27th I recieved my Driving Licence. On the same day I also recieved Defensive Driving Certificate.

Journey on June 28th started from morning 7:00 am. It was me and Justin. We travelled from Socorro to C&E Concrete Inc. Limestone quarry at Grants.

Well to start with what is special about this. Truly speaking I am very new to Driving. I have never ever driven earlier before alone. In India I have never driven. Apart from that I have just recieved my Driving Licence just a day before. And also the Defensive Driving Test as mentioned above. And above all the one main thing is that my very first driving vehicle was Ford Pickup - A big vehicle. Yes dear it is very big.

Now one that it is big and also I am new driver so day before trip I drove a lot to get the feel of Truck.

Well journey was kind of pretty cool. We took brakes in our journey and it was kind of cool. I actually drove on slow speed, say 5 mph less than the speed limit. So it was kind of nice. No big hurry.

Night before journey I was kind of lill bit scared. I was just thinking about the journey. But by the grace of God everything went smooth.

Windows Media Photo out to beat JPEG?

Microsoft has announced a new still image format called Windows Media Photo (with a WDP file extension). According to their white paper this new format offers compression ratios close to JPEG-2000 but with the computational requirements of JPEG (smaller files with the same image quality). The use of new algorithms are also claimed to reduce the visibility of 'objectionable spatial artifacts' (those mosquito JPEG artifacts). Windows Media Photo supports a wide range of image formats including both fixed and floating point numerical representations (think wide dynamic range), various color spaces, metadata (including EXIF) and even transparency. This new format will be supported in Windows Vista when it arrives and will be made available for Windows XP, there has been no word yet of support for the format in any hardware devices
